Boyd and his best dog, Tippie, survey the flock grazing on barley stubble. Tippie quickly returns the straying animals by barking and nipping the stragglers' ankles. Boyd stays in the saddle from sunup to sundown. From time to time, he leaves to attend to business; then he leaves the safekeeping of the whole flock to his two dogs who keep it within a few hundred meters of a fixed point where Boyd was before he left. In addition to his horse & his dogs, as ranch equipment, he only has a four-wheel drive jeep at his disposal." and "4.
