About Palos Verdes Community Archives and Local History Center

Palos Verdes Community Archives

The Palos Verdes Community Archives is the digital repository maintained by the Local History Center of the Palos Verdes Library District (PVLD).  Formerly called Palos Verdes Digital Archives from 2014 to 2024, the Archives moved to the Recollect platform to provide the community an opportunity to explore, learn, connect and contribute with the Peninsula's heritage in one location.

Palos Verdes Community Archives is provided in part through the generous funding and support of the Peninsula Friends of the Library.

Local History Center

The Local History Center preserves, shares and provides access to the rich history of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  The Center's historical collection includes primary source material related to all aspects of Peninsula history -- from its Spanish land grant, cattle, sheep ranching and agricultural days, to early land development, city formations, and current life. The collection includes, but is not limited to, materials related to the Peninsula's four cities, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, and Rolling Hills and a small pocket of Los Angeles County unincorporated area.  The collection includes materials in a variety of print and non-print formats.

Only a portion of the Local History Center collection is represented on the Palos Verdes Community Archives. If you can't find what you are looking for, we encourage you to contact the Local History Center to find relevant materials to your research.
